Design

HiLux design has been carefully considered to make it not only tough and durable, but highly versatile too. Every detail has been carefully considered - from choice of body types, engines and accessories to flexible seating configurations and generous storage space - to ensure that Australia's toughest ute is also Australia's most useful ute.

The legendary HiLux may be 'the unbreakable workhorse', but it's also surprisingly comfortable and ergonomically sound, with everything laid out exactly where you need it. And now, with a choice of steel or alloy wheels, an updated exterior and a wider looking stance, HiLux has even more individual style.

Technology

HiLux is packed with advanced technologies and innovations that make it not just a tough, uncompromising workhorse but also a highly flexible and versatile machine.

There's an audio system that includes Bluetooth™ connectivity for audio streaming and hands-free mobile calls fitted as standard on all WorkMate and SR models. There's Cruise Control on all SR5 and SR models, while all SR5 models now come with Satellite Navigation, Single Zone Climate Control and a Multi-Information Display.

Performance

HiLux's unbreakable reputation has been earned by a combination of mechanical reliability, structural integrity and all-round durability across the entire range.

The vehicle also offers impressive performance along with excellent handling and stability.

There is a choice of three powerful engines; the 2.7 litre 4-cylinder petrol, 4.0 litre V6 petrol (both with VVT-i technology for improved efficiency and performance) and 3.0 litre Turbo Diesel with Electronic Direct Injection. Even while heavily loaded or towing equipment, all HiLux models are designed to deliver smooth acceleration throughout the range, including when overtaking at mid to high-speed.

Turbo Diesel Engine

Advanced technologies allow the 3.0 litre Turbo Diesel to deliver 343Nm of torque from 1400rpm whilst complying with the strict EURO IV emissions standards.

V6 Engine

Tried and tested in Australian conditions - delivers power, efficiency and performance as well as meeting strict emissions regulations.

4-Cylinder Petrol Engine

Delivers efficiency and power and helps to keep job costs manageable with great serviceability and reliability.

Double Wishbone Suspension

Combines with leaf spring and twin tube shock absorbers on the rear to deliver outstanding steering stability while carrying a load.

Towing Capacity

Significant towing capacity of 750kg unbraked across the range, 2250kg braked on 4x2 models, and 2500kg braked capacity on the 4x4 models.

Payloads

Single-Cab payloads up to 1,390kg, Extra-Cab up to 1165kg and Double-Cab up to 1,100kg.

4WD Limited Slip Rear Differential

Helps to optimise traction and limit rotation speed differences between wheels.

Safety

HiLux exceeds many of the tough standards set by Toyota's Global Outstanding Assessment (GOA) and has been tried and tested in all weathers on all terrains, by generations of satisfied Australian owners. The ute is packed with advanced safety technology, both passive and active. SRS Airbags, Crumple Zone technology and ABS brakes are standard across the range, while Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) is standard on 4x4 SR5 Dual Cab models and optional on 4x4 SR Dual Cab Pick up models.
